MNC ANIMATION, a business unit under MNC Pictures and a subsidiary of PT MNC Studios International Tbk (MSIN), proudly makes history in Indonesia’s creative economy industry. In collaboration with Royal Kreasi Cemerlang, a local toy manufacturer, MNC Animation has launched the first locally made toy line based on an original Indonesian intellectual property (IP), BIMA S, produced entirely in Indonesia and distributed nationwide.
The launch of these proudly Indonesian-made BIMA S toys was marked by the first distribution release event at the RCTI+ Studio in West Jakarta on Wednesday, June 16, 2021. The event was officially inaugurated by Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno, Minister of Industry Agus Gumiwang (represented by the Director General of Small, Medium and Miscellaneous Industries, Gati Wibawaningsih), and Deputy Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy Angela Tanoesoedibjo. Also in attendance were Executive Chairman of MNC Group Hary Tanoesoedibjo and Executive Chairwoman Liliana Tanoesoedibjo.
Hary Tanoesoedibjo explained that BIMA originally began as a live-action series produced by MNC Pictures and aired on RCTI around seven years ago.
“It was our own production, which then continued with the animated series BIMA Satria on RCTI every Sunday. Today, the IP has expanded to include toys, as seen in today’s launch. Hopefully, in the second half of this year, we will also unveil these characters at our theme park in Lido,” said Hary during the launch event held at MNC Studios, Kebon Jeruk, on Wednesday (June 16, 2021).
The launch received strong support from Minister Sandiaga Uno, who highlighted the evolution of the franchise from animation to the toy industry. As a father, Sandiaga expressed hope that Indonesian children would have national heroes they could look up to through locally created animated characters.
“Today, BIMA Toys are officially launched. Hopefully, they will support the promotion of tourism and the creative economy moving forward. Congratulations to Mr. Hary, Mrs. Liliana, and Mr. Steven. I was just imagining my nine-year-old son growing up with action figures he idolizes—ones made by Indonesians, like BIMA. BIMA is a heroic figure rooted in wayang tradition who stands for truth and justice. These are the noble values we hope our children will carry forward. That’s why I brought my son, Sulaiman, so he can learn to appreciate homegrown creations,” Sandiaga said.
On the same occasion, Executive Chairwoman of MNC Group and CEO of MNC Animation, Liliana Tanoesoedibjo, expressed her gratitude and pride in launching BIMA S—the first locally produced superhero IP toy line—soon to be distributed across the archipelago.
“Following the success of our animated TV series Kiko and the animated feature film Titus: Mystery of the Enygma, MNC Animation has released its latest animated series, BIMA S, which tells the story of a teenager named Satria who defends truth and transforms into a superhero. BIMA S introduces children to a superhero world of persistence, struggle, and unwavering defense of truth—offering a positive and inspiring message. Through our partnership with PT Royal Kreasi Cemerlang, we are proud to support the growth of local industry and Indonesia’s creative economy,” said Liliana.
Meanwhile, Ella Kartika, CEO of MNC Licensing and Contents, also expressed pride in seeing local creations being produced domestically and becoming a national source of pride.
“With the growing excitement for BIMA S’s adventure, we are releasing a full line of BIMA S superhero toys. Various action figure characters from the series will soon be widely available across Indonesia,” Ella said.
